About Us
according to the US government, we’re a Delaware corporation called Overtime Media Inc., but really, we’re 3 competitive athletes who set out a while ago to change the way sports video is handled on and around the web.
we’ve got business bios here, but here’s the quick rundown.
reece transferred to Brown University in 2004 and met dan his first day there. for whatever reason, they became immediate friends and enjoyed playing lacrosse for the Bears. at some point, reece threw this idea at dan about better using game video. luckily, dan was studying computer science.
at another point, dan told reece about joe who was dan’s childhood friend and a stud lacrosse player at UVA, too. then they graduated, dan went to work for Cisco, joe went to grad school at Syracuse, and reece took off around the world.
a while later, dan was still at Cisco, joe was working at Viacom and playing professionally. reece had been to a cumulative 25 countries, worked on a Hollywood film with these guys and started playing professional lacrosse for the Boston Cannons.
the idea came back. reece wanted game film. joe loved the idea. dan got the itch to build, read Atlas Shrugged (his first book ever) and took the plunge. within a month, dan proposed to his fiancee, quit his job at Cisco and started the company with reece and joe.
it wasn’t smooth sailing at first. none of them knew what they were doing, but they were all competitive and dedicated to building something great, to “evolving athletic performance” (our company mantra).
fast forward through an early alpha and beta version of HomeField – lots of hustle plays like the time reece and joe showed up at the college coaches’ convention with no demo, no product, not even a booth, just business cards and an idea and started pitching HomeField to everyone they saw – and we get to early 2009…
… the official launch, January ’09 – paying customers! seems ridiculous, but it’s actually a huge milestone for web companies. our early adopters were awesome! and we’re proud to have used their input to continually improve HomeField…
later that year HomeField 2.0 was born and in full use by Major League Lacrosse. total proof of concept! since then, it’s been one team after another picking up on the potential HomeField shows for making coaches’ lives easier, for improving athletes, for exchanging video all over the web.
“I think you’ve just saved me 30 hours of work and stress…maybe 50.”
and one of the most powerful quotes we heard recently was from a prominent D1 coach:
“Last year I would call everyone and ask them if they are using HomeField, and almost everyone would say “no”. Now, almost every coach I talk to is asking me if we’re doing our trading on it this year. It looks like you guys are here to stay.”
nowadays, HomeField is in use by top athletic programs all over the world, ranging from soccer to lacrosse to field hockey, football, basketball and more, at all levels – youth through professional, with teams across three continents – N. America, Europe and Australia…
it’s been a hell of a rollercoaster ride and it’s still just getting started, but the fact is the HomeField team is totally dedicated to our original mission – evolving athletic performance.
thanks for being a part of it all!
