Everyone’s an Expert

One thing that makes sports so great and unique, is that no matter your age, athletic ability, or level at which you play, everyone’s an expert.
You know exactly what I’m talking about.  Your dad questions every call the manager makes.  Your friend claims that he can do ‘such and such’ better than a professional athlete.  It never ends, and it’ll always be that way.

HomeField allows you to use this phenomena to improve your team.  Our discussion rooms allow your team to discuss a video in a way that was previously only possible in a locker room.  Coaches can highlight plays or players they’d like their team to focus on, with time coded links that will take them right to the highlight.  While players can respond to these comments, ask questions, and even link to the video themselves.

It’s a great way to keep up communication with your players while you’re outside the locker room.  And, it makes everyone an expert!

IMLCA – The Old, and The New

This weekend, for the third year in a row, HomeField went to the IMLCA convention in Baltimore Maryland.  It was good to see all the coaches we’ve built a relationship with over the past few years.  Conversely, it was great to meet some of the new coaches on the scene, and to show them how HomeField can literally change the way they coach.

I was surprised at the amount of coaches who still don’t utilize video to help improve their players.  Not because they don’t want to, but because they can’t.  They have no time to pull the team aside after/during practice to review video.

Enter HomeField!  Coaches now have a way to give their kids access to not just game video, but individual practice sessions, workouts, motivational video, etc.  We don’t just tell coaches that they can do this, we hear it from coaches who have used HomeField for years now.

Get creative.  Think outside the box.  I’m sure you’ll find HomeField can work for you and your team in ways even we don’t realize.

New Feature: Gamebreaker Edit List Import!

We think the HomeField online editor is the easiest way to break down your game film, but we know many of you like using GameBreaker from your desktop. That’s why we’ve built a new feature, that allows you to import your GameBreaker edit lists, so you can take all the edits you’ve made in GameBreaker and share them with your team on HomeField.
Here’s how:
1. Upload your film to HomeField as usual.
2. Open your edited timeline in GameBreaker and then export your Edit List by going to:
File > Export > XML edit list…
Be sure to note where you’ll save the file to, and click save.
3. In HomeField, open the video that you uploaded in step 1 and click “Import Gamebreaker Editor Tracks” – located just above the editor for the video.
4. Click Choose File and select the XML file you just exported, then hit Upload and Import.
Your Gamebreaker timelines and clips will appear as normal HomeField editor tracks, so that you can go ahead and share them with your team.
